Reviews of the Bloody Marys on offer at the various fine drinking establishments around Minneapolis and St Paul, and, on occasion, further afield.

Why are we here, anyway?

Well, we're here because of the vodka. And the tomato juice. And the little glass of beer. We LOVE the little glass of beer.

My favorite meal is brunch, mostly because of the Bloody Mary. It is the perfect drink--a pick me up if I have a wee hangover, a stop-gap between meals, a canvas waiting to be garnished with celery, olives, pickles, and even a bit of shrimp. The Bloody Mary is rarely terrible, although, as we will see, there are certainly good ones, better ones, and "oh my god can I live at this bar" fantastic ones (here's a little hint: throw in a strip of bacon and you're automatically out of the lower depths of that ranking system).

And because I live in Minneapolis, I am fortunate to be surrounded by bars--big, little, fancy, divey, expensive, cheap--all of which serve some variation on this most drinkable of breakfast drinks.

And because I care, I share. But not my drink. My opinions. Here is where I will provide you, dear reader, the information you require to make informed Bloody Mary decisions. I'll rank the quality of the drink, perhaps throw in a little cost-benefit analysis, maybe even provide some information on the food on offer, the ambiance of the establishment, and, of course, provide pictures when I can. Presentation is everything. Well, no, but it helps.

And so we're off! Please feel free to suggest places that I have not yet reviewed. Please feel EXTRA free to buy me drinks at those places. You won't regret it (unless your idea of a Bloody Mary is nothing more than vodka and tomato juice, in which case we will have words, and they will not be pleasant!).

Happy Drinking! Don't forget to tip your servers well!
